Wesham finished second team in their own staging of the latest round of the Inter Club series at Salwick in Lea Town on Monday evening. I good conditions Rob Danson, now running for Preston Harriers stole the race yet again with a clear run but with Wesham’s own Adam Wilding chasing hard to clinch 3rd place. The Reservoir View Fell Race on Friday evening was the next fixture in the Wesham Trail and fell Running Championship with just four stalwarts in contention. Chris Banks was the first to finish in an excellent 5th place in a time of 52:08 for the tough 6.5 mile (10.5km) climb up the 1214ft to the summit of Hameldon Hill again after the Quarry race last weeks, this time in a long loop from the south side. Dan Hounslea came in 11th with 57:18 for 6th Senior Man with Steve Myerscough finishing 13th in 59:39 for 2nd M50. Ian Nichols Hogg was 22nd in 1:03:38.

There was a series of mid-week with the Cowm Reservoir 5k, the Padiham Greenway 5km and the Radcliffe AC 5km Multi-Terrain Race where Martin Bates ran 29:23 in Philips Park in Whitefield to finish 141st for 8th M65 in a quality race.

Anne Berry ran the Tolkien Trail race from Stoneyhurst College in the Ribble valley on the enchanted 11km woodland course to finish 99th woman and 11th W60 in 1:26:02 for 282nd overall. Charlotte Mackay finished 100th woman and 283rd in 1:26:03.

There was a large showing of 34 Wesham members at 13 parkrun venues on Saturday for a weekly timed 5km run.  In the Preston parkrun in Avenham and Miller Parks Nigel Shepherd finished in 21:50 for an M65 age graded percentage of 77.56%. Vicky Gore ran 25:37 for an W45 graded 63.89% and Tom Nicholson was on 25:47 for a Senior Man performance of 50.29%. In Victoria Park in Warrington Alona Versinina clocked for 52:24 a W35 age graded 28.72% and in the Bolton parkrun in Leverhulme Park Dan Bolton ran the third fastest time of the day with 19:24 for an age graded performance of 66.49%. Carl Groome timed in at 23:08 for M55 66.43% with Andy Moore running 30:25 for M60 53.64% and Sue Rigby 45:01 with a W50 grade of 37.25%. On his own in the Worsley Woods run in northwest Greater Manchester Martin Bates clocked 25:55 for M65 65.92% while in the Riverside event in Chester-Le-Street Emma Brook recorded 28:09 for W40 54.65%. In Slough at Upton Court Anne Flanagan ran a time of 36:07 for W65 58.74% with George Flanagan coming in at 41:49 for M75 45.32%. Steven Gore completed the Sandall Park parkrun in Edenthorpe in Doncaster in 20:44 for an M40 graded of 67.36% and in Widnes in another Victoria Park John Naylor clocked 23:14 for M40 60.11%. at home in Lytham Hall over the two-and-a-half laps of glorious parkland David Taylor ran the third fastest time in 19:00 for M35 70.26% with Bradley Flatt on 21:52 for an age graded of 59.15%. Ian Nichols Hogg ran 23:01 for 56.48% with Jonathan Lawson coming in at 23:55 for M55 64.81%. Jo McCaffery returned 29:25 for W45 54.50% with Martin Allison running 37:23 for M40 36.51% and Mary Lois Cortes 37:29 with a W35 40.37%. In Blackpool’s Stanley Park Chris Haines was second fastest in 19:26 with M35 69.73% and Mark Renshall ran 24:29 for M50 60.72%. Finlay McCalman recorded 26:48 for an M60 graded 59.83%. On Fleetwood Promenade George Kennedy returned 23:05 for M65 73.36%; Elliot Costello 24:48 with 52.28%; Alex Rowe walk/jogged 32:18 for M65 52.89%; and Tracy Clare ran 34:54 for 42.60%. In the Jubilee parkrun in Spennymoor, Durham Mike Eyre ran 25:13 for M60 64.71% and Helen Eyre 31:43 for W60 60.33%. Adam Wilding produced the fastest time of the day in the University Parks run in Oxford past the J. R. R. Tolkien bench to clock 16:52 for an age graded 77.37% with Will Parkinson 27th in a quality field with 19:56 for an M35 graded 66.56%.
