The fourth round of the Inter Club Series took place on Tuesday evening on a 5-mile loop along the Bispham cliff tops and back along the Lower Promenade as England were kicking off in the Euros. Adam Wilding was the first finisher again for Wesham in 5th place in a time of 27:25, his second fastest time at the distance. He was followed up by Tom Bamber with a good run for 2nd M40 in 8th position with 27:55. Jamie Houghton was 15th in 29:11 with Mark Belfield close behind in 29:23 for 16th place, 5th M40. David Taylor finished 17th in 29:40; Chris Banks was 23rd in 30:30; Tom Crabtree 25th with 30:36; Dan Bolton was 33rd in 31:02; Chris Haines 39th with 31:44; and Dan Hounslea was 44th in 31:57 to finish second team overall, a good result. For the ladies Sue Coulthurst finished 11th in 36:11, with Carmel Sullivan 17th and 8th vet with 37:10. Natalie Mulrooney placed 18th in 37:21; Lisa Minns came in 39th with 41:46; Alona Versinina was 40th in 42:36; Bev Wilding 46th with 44:03; Dawn Biggs finished 61st in 47:42; and Liz Sharrocks placed 67th in 50:27. The Wesham ladies were 5th team while the Lady Vets were third with Sue Coulthurst 4th; Carmel Sullivan 8th; Natalie Mulrooney 9th; Lisa Minns 21st; and Bev Wilding 27th. ). The overall vets were 4th with Bamber 2nd; Belfield 5th; Lee Barlow 29th (68th in 34:08); Carl Groome 30th (69th in 34:13); Mick Edge 43rd (90th with 35:37); and Nigel Shepherd 44th (91st in 35:39. The Vet-50 and Vet-60 teams were both 3rd, with Barlow 8th; Groome 9th;  Edge 16th; and Shepherd 17th; and Edge 5th; Shepherd 6th and George Kennedy 15th (125th in 39:05). In the series overall Wesham are lying 2nd team, 5th in the ladies but leading the Ladies Vets; the overall Vets are 3rd with the Vet-50s also 3rd but the Vet-60s 4th.

The St Annes Carnival 5k took place on the Sunday of the weekend Gala with 73 runners. Ian Nichols Hogg finished 17th in 20:35, with Phil Quibell 19th and 2nd M65 in 21:00, with Geoff Dawson of Bowland Fell Runners literally running away with the age category win 1min 50secs ahead with a surprise appearance. Sue Coulthurst was 3rd woman and 1st W55 in 21:46 with Jonathan Lawson 39th and 1st M55 with 23:51. Agness Woods was 3rd W55 and 14th woman, 50th overall in 26:27. 

James Danson ran the Trawden 7 on Sunday and finished 179th and 20th M55 in 1:10:11 over an undulating countrified route.  In the Salford Media City 5k round the Quays Mick Edge ran 21:25 for 25th position and 1st M60 while Carmel Sullivan clocked 22:49 for 5th woman and 34th overall, to take first W55.

Wesham fielded two teams in this year’s Endure24 in Bramham Park over an 8km multi-terrain course though parkland and woods. The Wackadoodles finished 38th overall and 16th in the Mixed Large Team category, with Adam Wilding running 6 laps with his fastest time at 28:50. Mark Belfield also completed 6 laps, his fastest in 31:13; Will Parkinson ran 5 laps his fastest being 35:17. Antionette Holton completed 4 laps, her fastest being 48:34. Catherne Holton ran 4 laps, her fastest 47:20, with Clare Belfield (3 laps, 51:46); Julie Rooney (3 laps, 66:49); and Peter Rooney ran one lap in 39:49. The team completed 32 laps in a total time of 24:09:58. The second team “parkrun psheds” ran 23 laps in 24:11:49 to finish 186th and 43rd in their category Mixed Small Team (5 runners), with Carl Groome completing an epic 11 laps with his fastest at 36:45. Elliot Costello ran 5 laps his fastest in 42:34, with Michelle Pitt on 3 laps (67:55), Tracey Clare 3 laps (64:35), and Sue Rigby 2 laps in 79:07.

There were 26 Wesham members running a parkrun on Saturday morning. At the Woodhouse Moor parkrun in Hyde Park in Leeds John Naylor ran 22:58 for an M40 age graded performance of 60.81%. Preston’s parkrun in Avenham and Miller Parks saw Nigel Shepherd finish in 21:53 for an M65 graded 77.38% with Vicky and Steven Gore both on 25:00 for W45 65.47% and M40 55.87%. Andy Moore clocked 27:36 for M60 59.12% and Paul Carter returned 32:22 for M50 47.06%. On The Stray in Harrogate around 3 laps Mark Renshall recorded 24:12 for an M50 grade of 61.43%, and in Roundhay Park in Leeds the Endure24 team warmed up with Michelle Pitt and Sue Rigby running 48:15 and 48:16 for W40 32.37% and W50 34.74%. Carl Groome and Elliot Costello recorded 50:03 and 50:04 for M55 30.70% and an SM30 graded 25.90%. Alan and Carly Edgar ran the Barrow parkrun in 24:57 for M40 55.98% and 32:21 with a W40 graded 47.91%. Mary Lois Cortes was in London to embrace the Mile End event, running 38:13 for W35 39.60%, and at home in Chester-Le-Street Emma Brook ran the Riverside run in 27:16 for a W40 56.42% and another personal best performance by 6 seconds for the second week in a row. In the Haigh Woodland run Alona Versinina clocked 27:22 for W35 54.99% while on home ground 5 Wesham members were in the Lytham Hall event, with David Taylor recording the second fastest time of the morning in 19:28 for M35 68.58%. Jonathan Lawson clocked 23:37 for M55 65.63% with Ian Nichols Hogg in at 24:57 for an age graded 52.10%. Liz Sharrocks returned 31:11 for W60 64.03%. Jo McCaffery and Martin Allison were in Ludlow and took in the run in Mortimer Forest from Vinnalls car park, recording 30:19 and 39:45 for a W45 52.89% and M40 34.34%. At home in Blackpool Lee Barlow ran 21:08 for M50 70.90% and George Kennedy 24:06 for M65 70.26% with a 3-minute improvement on his previous run here. In the Bowling Park run in the East Bowling area of Bradford Mike Eyre ran 25:10 for M60 64.83% and Helen Eyre 32:16 for W60 59.30%.
